Science Fair & Practical Exhibition Day
June 6, 2026

Purpose
Students memorize science but rarely touch it. Science Fair Day turns theory into experiments students can see, touch, and explain. Partner NGO “Young Scientists Network” provides lab kits and judges.
- Goal: make JSS1-SS3 students excited about science by letting them become the teacher for a day.
Structure & Categories
Category 1
Working Models – SSS students build working models like solar water heater, simple motor, volcano with chemical reaction.
Category 2
Investigation Projects – JSS students test real questions: “Which soap makes most foam?” or “Do plants grow better with music?”
Category 3
Poster + Explanation – Students design posters explaining concepts like digestion or electricity. Must explain without reading from paper.
Judging & Learning
Judges are science teachers + NGO engineers. They don’t mark beauty of poster. They ask 3 questions: “What’s your problem?”, “How did you test it?”, “What did you learn?”. Students who can’t explain get coaching, not zero. All participants get “Young Scientist” badge.
Impact
After this fair, more students join Science Club. Parents see science is not “difficult subject”, it’s problem-solving. Last year 3 projects went to state science fair. School lab gets more use because students now ask “Can we test this?”.
Sustainability
Best projects stay in “Science Corner” in lab for next set of students to improve. NGO trains 3 science teachers on low-cost experiments using local materials. Science Fair becomes annual event before 3rd term exams.
