University & Scholarship Readiness Fair for SS3

June 6, 2026

The Problem

Every year brilliant SSS3 students miss admission because they don’t know about scholarships, JAMB strategies, or course choices. The University & Scholarship Readiness Fair solves this. NGO “Edu-Access” + 8 university reps + 5 scholarship foundations come to campus for 1 day. It’s not just “talk” — students leave with applications started.

Fair Structure

Zone 1

University Booths – UNIUYO, FUTO, UNILAG reps explain cut-off marks, post-UTME tips, and courses. Students get direct contacts, not just brochures.

Zone 2

Scholarship Hub – MTN, NNPC, PTDF reps teach how to write winning essays. Laptop station lets students start applications with volunteer help.

Zone 3

JAMB & Study Skills- 2-hour master class on time management, past questions strategy, and avoiding “expo”.

Zone 4

Course Counseling – 1- on -1 sessions to match student strengths to courses. Example: “You love drawing + math = Architecture”.

Pre-Fair Prep

2 weeks before, Guidance Counselors run “CV for Students” class. Students bring JAMB slips, WAEC results, passport photos. On fair day, they’re ready.

Parents attend 4 pm session: “Funding University Without Loans”.

Post-Fair Tracking

School tracks 3 numbers: % of SSS3 students who submit 2+ scholarship apps, % who register JAMB before deadline, % admitted by December. Last year, 34 students from this fair got admission + 7 got scholarships. The fair removes “I didn’t know” as an excuse.

Why It Works

Students hear from people who were in their seats 3 years ago — recent alumni now in 200-level come to share. That peer proof is more powerful than teacher advice. Plus, having all opportunities in one hall saves transport money for parents.
